Yeah, I’m back and behind the computer, suffering from severe withdrawal symptoms, and unfortunately am ill so no time to really blog before I’m going to crash, so for tonight just a response to this post on American Bedu.
For those not familiar with it, the general accepted rule in Islam is that a husband is allowed to ”discipline” his wife by lightly tapping her on the shoulder with a stick of miswak (natural toothbrush).
Where this rule goes wrong is that, like men of other religions/countries/cultures, a lot of muslim men like to interpret this as the full force beating up of a hapless victim/wife.
And the other problem is of course, the utterly erroneous, mad, idiotic assumption that men are always wiser, more knowledgeable, morally advanced, more intelligent, etc. than women. The sheer untruthful basis of this assumption is proof in itself that this admonition can never have come from the omnipotent deity which created us, but an addition by men who wanted some religious back-up for their hobby ”wife-beating”.
This dissertation on the wondrous nature of Islam telling you how to beat up your wife, and how hard a time all the poor men have of disciplining those wayward irresponsible creatures. One almost feels sorry for the hard task put onto men.
Gotta love this one: Being beaten up is therapy…
Interesting debate btw. Watch it!
