If it’s a troll on somebody else’s blog, which you like to visit, who is stirring up mayhem in the comments, absolute disregard is the best thing you can do.

Usually, a troll list is a reminder for the regular, and possibly even sane, posters to not argue or flame the troll.

Rhysz–it’s taken me multiple tries but I think I finally caught your meaning. A troll list would have the names of the trolls, in this case the still lonely “A”, and a sign “DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!”, by commenting on them, to them or about them, right?
In which case we have been feeding “A” into bigger longer equine fantasies (all puns intended) and we should desist, unless Aafke wants us to continue.

Names on the troll-list are considered trolls and should not be engaged in any manner. Ofcourse, it’s up to the individual reader if they”d like to have a look at their forum and ‘re-troll’. Some well-moderated forums I visit list their trolls after a banning, so everyone can get a good jab in. Since the troll is banned it’s not quite ‘feeding the troll’ unless they start ‘sockpuppeting’.
A(rgh) seems to be a relatively mundane troll. Uncreative, immature and, possibly, impotent (gotta love those ‘criminal profiling’ classes I’m taking for extra credit!!!!) . In any case, I’m not even considering him a proper troll, maybe a goblin or troll. Just another runny nose you have to have to whipe every once in a while.

However, diligent researcher, Aafke-fan that I am, I reviewed the post and comments carefully, and thought that the commentor “You know who” was defending you from “Anon”‘s trollish comment. But then who am I to intervene in a symbiotic sibling relationship, and besides neither “You know who” nor “Anon” were up to the level of Rhysz’s reply.

Is that part of your legal training or just a shared interest with your professor?
I think it was because we both appreciated that language could be both a tool and an art. I’m a huge fan of one-liners but I also am a huge detractor of it. It’s not in my courses, but I have notced that language has its perks in legal proceedings.

Spam filters are the internet equivalent of the windows Trash Bin. Akismet was just helping you take out the trash and “A” definitely fits that description 🙂
Akismet is very discerning indeed. I was interested to learn about this service. Unfortunately my spam never goes to Spam, but is fortunately benign. So it seems to have the choice, goddess like, to either allow A onto the Troll page (heaven), leave him in Spam (purgatory) or send him to Trash (hell)–excellent and very Danteesque. 🙂

Chiara, Akismet is provided for our WordPressblogs. It’s excellent, and intelligent, on the offchance it does let slip a spam-comment, you can label it spam and delete, and Akismet will remember and learn. In the case of ”A” it has decided all of its own where ”A”s comments should be placed.

Alas, the poor person seems to send a similar message to anyone who uses the phrase ministry of dreams, and has been doing so since at least 2007.
That’s strange… on my blog he admits his mental illness and resolves to have himself committed to a mental institution – but only after going into what can only be described as somewhat disturbing details about his personal self abuse. Personally, I think he’s a 13-year-old boy who is simply having a difficult time with puberty. But I could be wrong. He could be a 57-year-old woman who is simply having a difficult time with menopause. Or still… he could just be a nutcase without a life who sits at home and googles certain phrases, in a pointless attempt to gain attention to himself/herself/itself.
Then again… it could be the aliens! Holy crap! LOL!
Just remember, people like this are why God created spam filters. ;->

SaudiBedu, or vcool502 as he now calls himself, he’s the Saudi bloke with the shishi avatar, has now been officially spammed, as soon as I find out how to block people (I have never felt the need to do this before) he will be blocked.
I have seen on a friend’s blog how visitors with a really low intelligence level, combined with no care and compassion for others and great selfishness ànd a greatly exagarrated image of their own importance, can very quickly drop the level of the whole blog.
They not only bring down the level and tone of the blog, they also very quickly chase away the really worthwhile intelligent commentators.
Therefore I am committed to blocking any commentators who cannot keep to a decent and civilised level of conversation.
