I have been working really hard yesterday and today, I still have to go and clean Tarq’s stable, but I am so pleased with myself!

So I indulged in some play, What does your taste in music say about you?

It says:

Your musical tastes are intense and rebellious.
You are intelligent… but in a very unconventional way.

You are curious about the world. You love doing something new.
In fact, you enjoy taking risks and doing things most people would shy away from.

You are very physical. It’s likely that you’re athletic, but not into team sports.
You have the soul of an artist. Beauty and harmony are important to you.

Where do they get these things?

Aren’t they great? If you need some positive reinforcement 😉

Wanna play? Click here!

For good measures, I played another one: What playingcard are you?

I would have thought ace of spades, but:

You Are the Ace of Hearts
Youthful and playful, you love life and the world.
You have a kind spirit, and you bring happiness to everyone you know.

Artistic and bold, you see the world in bright colors.
And you certainly aren’t afraid to express everything you see and feel.

You are sentimental, and your emotions are very deep.
You are easily swept away and easily hurt.

A gamble you should take: Blackjack

Your friends would describe you as: Unique

Your enemies would describe you as: Weepy

If you lived in Vegas, you would be: An up and coming chef or fashion designer

And you know what? It fits too!

This was fun! please take the tests and tell me what and who you are! 😉

Check this out:

Look familliar?
Oooh yes, for some unfathomable reason somebody has cloned American bedu!
But why? Whole post have been transferred to this ugly website, but that’s it.

Apparently there isn’t that much you can do about it, Read Worpress’s response.

Edit: I’ve removed the link to the fake-site, re Saudi in Us’s comment

Back to sordid reality

28 12 2008

Christmas is over.

It is unacceptable for any government under any pretext to target civillians. Hamas is wrong by arbitrarily sending rockets into Israelian territory, and Israel is wrong with their ridiculously draconian ”countermeasures”.

But let’s make one thing clear, while the media keep going on about the ”rocket-attacks” and Palestinian ”rockets” I do feel the need to point out a small but important difference between Palestinian, and Israeli/American ”Rockets”.

While a Palestinian ”rocket” would indeed kill you if it landed precisely on your head, and has recently killed two palestinian girls by being faulty, and it càn make a hole in a roof, or in the pavement,

I do wonder about semantics when they are awarded exactely the same denomination as the American ”rockets” the Israelis used yesterday to ”retaliate”.
Because what an Israeli ”rocket” does, is this:

So to recap, This:

Is a whole different world from this:

And while I am sincerely sorry for the 57 civilians who had to be treated for shock by the well-equipped and abundant Israeli-medical staff, with reportedly 200 ambulances standing by. I am even more sorry for the (count up till now) 275 people killed and the over 600 wounded who will not be able to get adequate medical care at the Gaza-hospitals who are severely understaffed. And, due to the continuing Israeli-blokkade have neither modern medical equipment, nor sufficient medicines.

Israel, having more capability for ”precision-targetting” deemed it nessecary to target not only supposed weapons-dumps, security compounds and the Hamas-headquarters, but also a mosque, the Hamas television station and Police-stations.
I am sorry for the graphic nature of the next photo, showing dead police-men. But I think this needs to be known. If people don’t realise the ugliness of conflict, the reality of death, then we won’t be stimulated to put an end to it.

And oh, how I pray this evil will stop!

update: For those who do not actually open the post and read the comments, I don’t want anybody to miss Chiara’s comment:

If you would like to read more about the impact on the people of the embargo. occupation, and most recent assault, as well as efforts to provide help, support and education read about the “Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) A non-profit Palestinian non-governmental organization providing mental health support to communities in the Gaza Strip.” Their work is admirable but the need for it is dismaying.

The founder Dr Eyad Sarraj, a Palestinian psychiatrist, has been arrested and “interrogated” by both sides and describes well the psychological brutalization of the occupation on both occupier and occupied.

A favorite site of mine  “Palestine Remembered:  The Home of Ethnically Cleansed & Occupied Palestinians” –an impressive and reliable combination of history, maps, photos, oral history, documentation, statistics, and advocacy showing the systematic destruction of Palestine.

While in my opinion these sites go off towards the other end of the scale, I’m a bit wary of all this zionist stuff, I think is still good to read the other side of the story, if only to keep a balance. Today I got a bit miffed again because the German news did interview an Israely paramedic, (4 people had been killed) and no Palestinians. They did show the devastation of the Gaza-strip however, and the weird difference from a point at the border; devestation to the right, and a neat Israeli village to the left.
Anybody with a bit of independent thinking can make up his own mind from these images.

I again plug my post on America and Israel, and the weird fact that a long list of key officials in the American government hold dual Israeli-American citizenship. Click here.

Tarq is naughty

26 12 2008

Second christmas day is the best: you get to eat all the lovely leftovers, without having to cook, and I found some tiramisu in the fridge as well 🙂 And I’ve just been lounging around, reading, visiting Tarq. (That’s not lounging, that means cleaning stable)

As the title declares: Tarq was naughty today!

The horses went in very early today, so when I arrived at the stables to clean Tarq’s box, he was already in, and I took him outside, to wait in the riding area, until I had finished with his lair.
Tarq suddenly decided to take off, and I was only holding him by the halter, so I had to let go. (lost 10 points to Tarq)
But, with a bit of me faking trying to catch him, Tarq trotted into the meadow for the big horses.

And I closed the gate.

Tarq spend some time showing off, trotting with his tail up, arching his neck, laughing at me…  (sorry due to the dim light these foto’s were very hazy)

After showing off, he enjoyed a bit of  grazing left and right…

Stood musing….

And looked around him a bit, and noticed that he was stuck in this meadow!

Hè, hè, hè……..

I went in to prepare his bed for the night, and when I came back Tarq was só ready to come back and be a good boy! 😀
He first looked far away, to show off his independence… But then turned and trotted full speed to the gate!

Merry Christmas!

From the vesper of Hildegard von Bingen:

Spiritus Sanctus, the second Antiphone and Psalm 110/111
Admiring the height of God´s Creation, praising him, thanking him.

Also as an illustration of my opinion on how music is from the devil trying to distract us from God, a bizarre opinion shared by deluded blind witch hunters, both in christianity and Islam.
While in Christianity this discussion was held many centuries ago, it is still alive and thriving in Islam, as we can read in the comments bandied about on this post from American Bedu.

The Winter Solstice

22 12 2008

Yep, last night we had the longest night of the year.

I had planned to write a very nerdy post on solstices and astronomy, and ancient practises, but pfff, can’t be bothered.
Let’s talk about fun-stuff!
Most important first fun thing: From now on the days will get longer again, and the nights shorter. I am tired of having to put the lights on at three o’clock. Or even noon.
Second fun thing: I got a box of presents from a mystery friend somewhere in one of these hot countries with lots of sand. 😀

There are three pretty sachets full of smelly stuff you can put into your commode and drawers.
Two very pretty candles, a beautiful photo frame. A lovely vanity mirror with embroidered cover,
A very beautiful silver box with a swivel lid, containing a gorgeous perfume from Mecca!!!
Hmmmm yummy! And a card with beautiful wishes, making me very happy!
Thank you very much, mystery friend 😀

Next fun thing: I have put up a (totally pagan) Christmas tree for the first time since.

My tree.
I have an extensive collection of glass ornaments and birds, and I always look for a scrawny tree to set them off 🙂

My birds! I have them all in pairs, I don’t want any of them to be without mate 🙂 I give them more beautiful tails and decorations. I also like to paint and decorate my baubles

This white bird is a very old one from my mother.

Although for the last few years a colour-coördinated tree has become more fashionable, in my early childhood trees were only to be decorated with silver. Any colour was considered very bad taste.
I never mind bad taste myself

Enough tree-admiring.
Fourth fun thing: I have been working very hard for the last few days to get my tree in, decorate (and clean, and tidy) my house, buying good stuff to eat, and cooking. I have been inviting a few friends for a small but delectable dinner. 😀
We started with one of my fool-proof soups, but I forgot to make a photo. I had laid the table with silver and black.

After the soup we had some hors d’ouvres. To drink I made saudi champagne (bedu’s recipe, and very much liked by my guests)

I made two different pasta’s, a new kind of very small and fine lettuce, with my favorite vinaigrette. (I always make my own vinaigrette’s)

For desert: strawberries dipped in molten chocolate, yummie!

And from now on the days are getting longer again! I’m happy in the prospect!

What breed of cat are you?

22 12 2008

I am a Sphinx cat?!?!?!?

Some say you’re part monkey, part dog, part child, and part cat.
You’re unique and mysterious enough to seem a little otherworldly.

You’re so hyper active that you almost literally climb the walls.
You are also devoted and loyal. But you demand a lot of attention in return.

So what breed of cat are you???
