Tonight it’s Samhain, (pronounced sawin), The festival marks the end of summer and the beginning of winter. It celebrates the end of the harvest, and also a kind of festival of the dead. Supposidly the veils between the worlds are at their thinnest on this night.
This has also inspired the secular custom of Halloween.
In the modern Wicca traditions it’s celebrated in rembrance of departed loved ones. Some people also claim it’s an ideal evening to scry the future, some traditions celebrate Samhain at the first frost.
The first frost was the day before yesterday, and today I almost froze my toes off. Especially after Tarq squashed them because there was this super-dangerous tractor passing!. Sheesh!
It seems we have skipped Autumn, and slipped straight into winter!
Anyway, a totally paganly happy Samhain to all my readers!
