O great, its making me hungry. I want to eat a camel now!
Yay – 1000/1100!
Ever been camel riding? I found it really different from horses – much longer gait and much slower and rockier – was fun 🙂
We have camels in southern Iran along the Persian gulf and i saw how they eject saliva from the mouth!!
I prefer to stay away from them. 😀
Amina, strange isn’t it; today I was looking at everything wondering if it/they/them are edible!!!
Colloquielle: No, never been riding a camel!
Shahrzad: it’s called spitting! So have you done the quiz?
Wow, A camel quiz timed perfectly for my Camel Avatar.
You broke your trend, an easy exam finally. At least for a camel herder 🙂
I scored 800! That’s not bad eh, I mean, why would I know a camel runs as fast as 20 kph???
🙂
can we only play it during hunger pangs
what about after iftar?
I have so many comments to make about them but don’t want to spoil a quiz question, lol 😉
It was fun taking the quiz – I did better than I thought I would! Thanks, Aaafke!
900 – I can’t register on the website though… the Javascript popup won’t work. Nevermind. 😛
I’m just 900… what do i know about camels in Australia, i ask thee? what? :p
Outstanding Quiz…and since I love camels, let me tell you a little camel trivia (and yes, I’ve got lots of posts about camels on my blog!)
The first camels to come to Australia were from Afghanistan and were the two humped camels.
I’m not sure about the speed of the camels. Having seen the camel races I am convinced they can go faster than 20 mph (now you know a question I missed on the quiz)
I have ridden camels in China, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Dubai and been on desert treks atop the camel while in both India and Pakistan. They are such unique experiences and soon you begin to enjoy the rolling gait. The two humped camel which I rode in China however is much more easier to ride than the one humped.
I guess because I tend to look at the camel as a pet (I actually received a baby as a gift in Pakistan) I cannot fathom the thought of actually eating one.
Camels are such smart and intelligent creatures!
So if you want to know more about camels, visit my blog and do a search on the word “camel” and you’ll be quite entertained for a while!
Thank you again Aafke for a great quiz!
I went to the camel races just outside of Riyadh a year or so ago and those animals move pretty fast – I also thought they could go faster than 20mph!
Have only ridden a camel once – that was also a two humped camel in Kazakhstan. Very bumpy ride!
Saudi in US, Glad you finally managed a respectable score!
Tee, excellent score!
Tazeen: welcome to my blog, and you can play it at any time of the day or night! 🙂
Colloquielle: very considerate of you
and everybody else; thank you for telling all that according to my internet researches the maximum camel-speed is 20 mph
sheesh!
Susie, glad you enjoyed it!
Umm Ibrahim, it’s more important you give your score here anyway! And excellent! god score!
miss Specs: don’t blame me for you pathetic knowledge of camels in Australia! Everybody knows about them!!! 😉
Bedu: thank you for the camel trivia. The maximum speed was mentioned on an internet-site about camels. You have led such an adveturous life! (and still do) I have always liked the bactrian camels better than the dromedaries.
If you can get it, I would reccomend everybody to watch the beautiful movie ”The Story of the Weeping Camel”
Umm Ibrahim, I’d love to see a camel-race!
I can’t pick between bactrian / dromedaries! They’re all adorable, frankly 😉 I used to be able to say easily that horses were my favourite animals but nowadays I actually think they’re all pretty equal – I just have more familiarity with horses or dogs or cats than with, say, lemurs 😉
I didn’t do well, only 700, but that’s expected, maybe because I spent more time cooking and eating camels than admiring them! Bedu’s remark reminds me of the time I was visiting relatives in Italy, and saw signs for horsemeat at the grocery store. I expressed surprise that people would eat horses.
Guess what I found on my plate at dinner?
By the way, camels and horses both taste like beef, at least to my simple taste buds. Preparation is everything.
Hey this is so much fun! I got 900.
okay Aafke…we will add taking you to a camel race and having you ride a camel over the sand dunes here to your list for when you come to visit!
I blew this one — scored 800 😦
Btw, I cant sem to be ablr to register either.
I just did ur muttawa quiz (loved it!) & scored 297 on that.
Marahm, apparently horsemeat is good for those with anaemia (not sure we should be discussing eating horse on Aafke’s blog! 😯 ).
Anyway, if horse and camel both taste like beef… what’s the point?! Stick to beef!
Colloquielle: still horses here!
Marahm: 700 is fine. I would never ever eat horse!
Achelois! Excellent! Have you done the other quizzes as well?
Bedu: number 7 of my three favorite destinations!
Riyadh mum: welcome to my blog! 800 is a good score!
And you are not supposed to do the muttawa compatibility quiz yet! It’s not finished! Wait until I have introdued it on my blog! I didn’t know one could play quzzes that weren’t finished yet!
Everybody: do not play the muttawa quiz yet!!!!!
Wait!!!!
Umm Ibrahim: you are so right! Eating horse ahs no place on my blog! And yes!!
Stick to beef!!!
No I didn’t do the other quiz. But I am still baffled about water storage. I was sure it was the stomach!
Oops! I didn’t know the Muttawa quiz wasn’t there to be taken yet! Lol ….
And yes – do tell: where do camels store water?!
Camels really store it in their blood. They have unique bloodcells; They can withstand enormous differences in osmosis, and are uniquely shaped, not round but an oval. this fascillitates bloodflow when the animal is in a dehydrated state.
OK where’s the link for your muttawa quiz? I did it following the url from achelois and got 1050. Just thought I would let you know.
Huh? which link? Which quiz did you do?
The muttawa quiz will be posted tomorrow, together with the explanation of the points to be gained. It’s a bit more complicated.
LOL! Now I’m gonna spend the rest of my life wondering what a camel burger would taste like! Good job, my friend! 😀
Lofter, well, try it! Texas… the homeland of the Camel-burger… the birthplace of McCamel…
I had followed the link from Achelois’s page.
Haleem, does that mean I am not on your favorites???
I only got one wrong, Yay for me!!!! didn’t know their speed I rated them too high.
I woulda been ashamed if I’d got the 2nd one about Australian camels wrong
Camels store “Porridge” in their humps????
I wonder if anyone atually chose the porridge option
McCamel, I must try one 🙂
