Yihaaaa! I have broken the 10,000 mark! More than 10.000 clicks! And on a blog with no agenda, no aim, no subject!
To celebrate I present you the:
Special Ultimate Nerd Space Celebration Quiz!
Twenty questions (went a bit overboard with that) of pure un-adulterated nerdyness! I’m dying to know how your scores go!!!!
I needed something to celebrate, and I got the idea for making a quiz from American Bedu’s blog
Update:
The winner, person with the highest score, gets the honour and pleasure of taking me out for dinner and a nice movie! I will promise to behave well π
I’m not space Nerdy enough it said;
Congratulations! Your final score is: 800 out of 2000 π¦
I was sure Mrs Spock was the VUSL (Vulcan Ultimate Spiritual Leader)
Why were there no Thunderbirds questions?????
I managed 1200, does that mean I shed that Nerd title? π
Tony, thunderbirds were SF, but not really in space. I thin 800 might not be so very bad. Let’s see how everybody else does π
Saudi in US: Not bad at all, there were some very tricky questions! π
I’ll see how the scores go, and then decide who qualifies as nerd. I wonder how my lil’bro is going to do; he Γ¬s a registered nerd. So is MJK.
I only got 900, which is very sad. I think it’s because I didn’t watch Babylon 5.
My favorite question: “Doctor Who is a XXXXXXX” — Number who got it right: 100%
Aafke,
Yes I noticed it was a tricky quiz and was not fair for men. For example the question about how many times Barbarella had to change clothes. After 2 hrs of watching Jane Fonda lose her clothes most guys are lucky to be able to count to 3 π
Darnit I never saw Barbarella!!! or Babylon 5, or some others it asked about. I knew Doctor Who was a XXXXXXXX too. I also knew that Mrs Spock was the VUSL, the quiz had the answer wrong…..
So far I’m the un-nerdiest – Yay 4 me π
Argh…I scored 800 and that was by pure luck with some good guesses!
James, it seems 900 is a good count. I knew it was a tricky quiz, but that’s part of the fun I think.
Saudi in US, I’m sorry, I didn’t realise the Jane Fonda thing. I adore Jane Fonda, and I thought as we women would adore and count her outfits, the men would count the number of times she had to take them off. I didn’t take into account the limited range of the male brain.
What are you complaining about? Your score was excellent! You are obviuously close to being a real nerd!
Tony, It doesn’t matter you aren’t a nerd, for a non-nerd your score is pretty impressive.
You are wrong about mrs. Spock, actually the moment a possibillity of a mrs. Spock came into the story-line, is when we first get to see the most important spiritual leader on Vulcan.
Trust me, I can send you the titel of the episode. and the wiki-page.
Delhi, if you don’t consider yourself a trekkie, or nerd, that is a very nice score.
All: Thank you all for being so discreet when discussing dr Who being a xxxxxx, and really I am pretty impressed with the counts so far, I went out of my way asking mean and difficult questions.
Anyway, nerds are trekkies, but mega-nerds (are a bit more intelligent) appreciate Star Trek, but prefer Babylon5.
I am thinking of a proper prize for the best score.
π¦ A couple of ’em were worded in a way that threw me… there were three answers for the one about daleks being scary that seemed viable, for instance! But it was fun – 1100. A bit low for someone as geeky as me, really – I feel like I failed a school quiz!
1800
FTW!
Colloquielle: yes, you should have done better! Don’t blame it on me!!!
Rhysz! Only 1800? Which ones did you miss? Haven’t been paying proper attention I think!
I only got a crappy 1200 out of 2000. BOO!
Thinking it over, and reviewing the scores I have come to the conclusion that 1200 is a Nerd-qualifying score π
Can you change the cutoff to 1300 for that I promise to sell my Klingon Poetry book collection on ebay and to never wear a Minbari costume again π
OMG! I’ve won the ‘prize’. Well, what’s it gonna be Dark Knight or Indy?
Saudi in US, if you send me the Klingon Poetry Book Collection, the settings for Ultimate Nerdyness will be set to 1300, although… the concept of wearing Minbari costumes, is in itself an indication of extreme nerdiness!
Hè, hè, hè, Rhysz, who would have guessed?
You may take me to either honey.
Perhaps Dark Knight slightly preferable π
Ok since we got a virtual nerd convention going on (come to think of it what could be more fitting than a virtual nerd meeting). I am looking for some movie recommendations. I am talking the lesser known movies, that I may have missed watching.
I will start by recommending “Dark City”. If you like the twilight zone, this will definitely be a movie you will love.
congrats dear Aafke. Yes 10000 is very good. Esp when you’re not on search engine. Haha, what a wonderful gift for the lucky winner. π
Saudi in US: *virtual nerd meeting* excellent! π I’m sorry but I think you are defenitely a NERD.
I do think I’d rather go and see Dark Knight.
I’m sure Rhysz will come up with some really good ones for you, he’s also a very reliable movie-nerd.
Shahrazad: Yes, I’m quite amazed, but also very grateful that I have met such wonderful people like you. Now I can never stop blogging π
Isn’t it a great first prize?
Something told me Rhysz would be the biggest nerd….
I only scored 500! Does that mean I don’t get to be a geek? (Sad… it was the only thing I was really good at!)
Lofter, it only means you’re not a Trekkie/space nerd. Did you watch dr Who and Babylon5? If not you don’t stand much of a choice anyway.
Please don’t be sad!
How NON-nerdy is this… I couldn’t figure out where to click to get to the quiz for about 3 minutes…? blushing… When I FINALLY got there I got an 800…
Kim, welcome to my blog! I’m not sure, I was wondering today if it is clear you have to click the titel: this theme shows clickable words in a very discrete grey.
800 is not bad, but you’re not officially a nerd.
Kim we should drop you 200 points for the clicking error, but you have such a cool alien icon, we may just forget about that.
Aafke, I am really disappointed in the icon your blog chose for me. I mean a rounded Orange with goofy little ears just does not do much for my image LOL
I demand a change to a scary looking alien…
OOPS, That was me in the last comment. I was helping Delhi with technical updates to her site and the comment showed up under her name. Sorry I cannot delete it now
Aafke, can you delete these comments some how word press keeps picking up Delhi’s ID..
Congrats on 10,000 hits! A blog with no agenda, no aim, no subject is the very best kind! Wags and wags to you, my dear!
Aafke, in my excitement to see how nerdy I am (not) I totally forgot to CONGRATULATE you for your 10,000 clicks. You are on your way!!!!
Oh, I’m just easily confused π But I’m still a total sci-fi nerd π
Delhi 1 & 2 aka Saudi in US, Sorry dude, the avatars are automatically generated by AI
. The avatars are usually spot on, just look at Rhysz’s screaming big-mouthed greenish monster.
You’ll just have to live with the fact that your inner truth has come out, and we all know now: you are a cute orange Tribble with bunny-ears.
The only way to get rid of it is get your own avatar at the Gravatar site, it’s free and very easy.
http://en.gravatar.com/
So I’m not deleting your comments otherwise it would get too confusing. If you are logged in on Bedu’s blog all comments will automatically show as bedu’s comments, with her avatar. To comment as yourself you have to log-out. But I suppose you’ve found out by now.
Checkers: thanks sweety
Delhi-4-cats, (I take it’s the real one this time), Thank you! I couldn’t believe it myself!
Colloquielle: I have put the questions in a difficult way; that might have put you off a bit, but I also wanted the quiz to be amusing!
My years of watching Star Trek has fetched me only a measly 500. This cannot be. I shouldn’t need to watch Babylon 5 or Andromeda … Star Trek should qualify on its own … especially if you have sat through a whole episode feature Deanna Troi and her mother…
Tell me which episode that is, and to whom Deanna’s mother was going to get married, and I’ll grant you extra points
Babylon5 is the ultimate SF tv-series: too important to leave out, but I did keep out Andromeda, Farscape, and Firefly. so nothing to complain here.
Hmm… don’t know who she was marrying (some ambassador she never met but communicated with) but I remember one line of Picard.
“Number One, nothing would please me more than to GIVE mrs troi away!”
Lwaxana Troy tried to woo tried to woo Picard in the episode ‘Manhunt’ (ep. 45).
She tried to marry a scientist (who was about to go senile and was expected to end his life, yes, even by his own family) in the episode ‘Half a life’ (ep. 96).
You left out the re-imaginned Battlestar Galactica, Season 4 absolutely rocks, it seems they finally figured out the characters and they lost the crappy filler episodes.
Regards,
Rhysz
@ haleem
That was a marriage arranged By Lwaxana for Deanna. ‘Haven'(ep.11)
She was supposed to marry some mulletheaded, pastyface wuss named Wyatt Miller. If Wesley was the ‘Prince of Dweebs’ we most certainly had to bow for the King now.
Regards,
Rhysz
The scientist wasn’t going senile, it’s just that that particular society had decided nobody should exceed a certain age, and when reaching that age, they should euthanestice themselves, during a festive ceremony attended by family and friends. Under influence of Lwaxxana he dei\cided to go on and finish his scientific studies, but died anyway, can’t remember how anymore.
It was a trick-question, Lwaxana Troy had allready married, and in the series tried to marry, several men, including Picard, the ambassador fled the marriage-ceremony after Lwaxana had discarded the revolting traditional weddingdress of his family, and decided to show up naked as was the custom of Betazed.
Nobody scores here.
Exept me.
Try again Haleem.
No, Lwaxanna had also decided to marry the ambassador on a ”pen-friend” relationship, she was a bit overwhelmed by the importance of his family and office, which she decided matched her own. (almost)
The coupling of Deanna to the second ”prince of dweeps” was arranged by both families when they were still children. They had not had any contact, didn’t know how they looked. (he then found out he had been dreaming of somebody else, the blonde girl on the plague-ship)
NERD ALERT!!!! NERD ALERT!!!!!
ALL PERSONELL PLEASE MOVE TO YOUR DESIGNATED SAFE AREAS!!!!!
CODE RED!!!! CODE RED!!!!
PUN ON YOUR RAY-BAN COOL GLASSES!!!!!
THIS IS NOT A DRILL, REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!!!!!!!!
(message repeats)
Thanks for the link Aafke. I chose the symbol of the fierce empire. I felt I have to over compensate after having the orange with the bunny ears for so long.
I guess I learned a lesson on wordpress, never trust what the screen says it will take the id that is logged in in the other tab. Well at least I was not talking about Jane Fonda’s lack of clothing under Delhi’s name π
By the way you proved that you are the Queen of all nerds by your last few comments. Any Borg implants yet?
Hmm.. come to think of it.. my 500 may be a just result after all π
Aafke … what would be your best TNG episode?
Rhysz: RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!
(Don’t Panic)
Klingon in US: We will never forget your true self!
SYMBOLS ARE IRRELIVANT YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED AS AN ORANGE FLUFFY TRIBBLE. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!
Haleem you get points for: βNumber One, nothing would please me more than to GIVE mrs troi away!β
Count yourself 550 π
My favorite episode is the first double borg one: ”The best of both worlds”
When the Borg were just simply a hive of unstoppable scary mindless half dead creeps. Excellent! Good design, good story, good music.
Pfft – you merely WATCHED Star Trek? I used to help organise conventions. I sang a duet of sorts in a bar with Tim “Tuvok” Russ (American Pie), and later on a friend and I wound up in a jacuzzi with him. I was Nicole “Ezri Dax” deBoer’s PA for her stay, and we bonded over shoes and nail varnish and Echo and the Bunnymen. Chief O’Brien offered me cigarettes. Chakotay flirted with me (he flirts with everyone – biggest opportunist on the planet, it would appear). I am A TOTAL GEEK! Honest!
But I’m not as big a dork as the guy who wrote me a love poem in Klingon 12 years ago π
PS Majel Roddenberry, as well as playing Lwaxana, also voiced the ship’s computer in Next Gen.
PS (for Rhysz) – Prince Malchezzar in Karazhan uses a line, “Time is the fire in which we burn.” It’s from Generations.
OOH – Saudi in the US – Dark City is an awesome film!!! And that reminds me.. I was in Madrid a few weeks ago and we went to one of the museums there. They had this phenomenal painting about the size of my living room wall, and I swear, whoever wrote Dark City, the Matrix and about four other sci fi / fantasy films had seen it before writing their screenplays.. my brother and I found Shelly Beach (from Dark City) and the Oracle on her park bench, and loads of other stuff – and it was painted in, I think, the 50s.
Majel also played nurse Chapel in the original series, and number 1 in the pilot for the first series.
Colloquielle: you get some extra points, let’s say 3000 for your Trekkie-exploits in the real world.
And thanks for sharing! Great stories!
Saudi in US and Colloquielle: I love Dark City, and have it on DVD!!!!
How about City of the Lost Children? I bet you liked that one too!
Majel also played an awesome roll in Babylon 5.
[…] 08 2008 To stop you all from whining about your low scores on the very difficult and specialised Ultimate Nerd Space Quiz, I have put together a short, but sweet, general-nerd-knowledge […]
1800!
I was lucky until I got to babylon 5 and star trek *grin*
That is a very good score!
