Celtic meets Sufi

One of my favorite singers is Loreena McKennitt, I hope you will enjoy this song.

The mystic’s dream

A clouded dream on an earthly night
Hangs upon the crescent moon
A voiceless song in an ageless light
Sings at the coming dawn
Birds in flight are calling there
Where the heart moves the stones
It’s there that my heart is longing
All for the love of you
A painting hangs on an ivy wall
Nestled in the emerald moss
The eyes declare a truce of trust
Then it draws me far away
Where deep in the desert twilight
Sand melts in pools of the sky
Darkness lays her crimson cloak
Your lamps will call me home
And so it’s there my homage’s due
Clutched by the still of the night
Now I feel you move
And every breath is full
So it’s there my homage’s due
Clutched by the still of the night
Even the distance feels so near
All for the love of you
A clouded dream on an earthly night
Hangs upon the crescent moon
A voiceless song in an ageless light
Sings at the coming dawn
Birds in flight are calling there
Where the heart moves the stones
It’s there that my heart is longing
All for the love of you

Very beautiful song and painting. I dont have favorite singers. My taste of music usually differs time to time. But i like Loreena McKennitt too. One of her song was my mobile ringtone for a while.. 🙂

I have been listening to her for YEARS. Good stuff. If you like more traditional Irish music check out a grou called “Altan”.

My favourite Irish singer is a guy named Christy Moore. Think the Joan Baez of Ireland, only modern and popular.

Very nice… and, of course, the painting is exquisite! My taste in music has an incredibly wide range. About the only things I can’t stomach are rap and country/western… being from Texas, that last one is hard to avoid! I’ll have to look for more of Ms. McKennett… very nice, indeed. 🙂

I like her too, particularly Caravanserai. And I love your painting!

I’m so sorry to hear about your horse.
