Roadtrip, The Grand Canyon

15 09 2009

After breakfast, off we went! To our next destination: the Grand Canyon!

Our drive has started! Up to the mountains!

DSCN1536

We drove through some very pretty forests

DSCN1538

Until we reached the plateau, where it was a very different world, arid, dry, and empty

DSCN1543

We arrived at the visitors centre of the Grand Canyon, the rangers were very friendly and helpfull, and they have great loos! I brought some sunscreen as I seemed to have forgotten my own. It was quite expensive, but it’s really nice. We decided to go up in the shuttle, later we regretted that as you can get up quite a bit in your car and get a red shuttle. As it is we had to swich shuttles three times which was a drag, especially as it was very busy.

DSCN1554

What can I say… It’s Grand!

You can see a beautiful hotel on the top here, it’s the El Tovar. It’s a very beautiful hotel and very famous. We had lunch there :)

DSCN1568

There are a few smaller buildings around the rim, two little shops, and the Kolb Studio. We visited an very good exhibition there of artworks inspired by the National Parks.

DSCN1562

DSCN1559It all took a very long time, much longer as we had planned! In the end we were so hot and tired we decided not to do the last stretch to what is supposed to be the very best spot, but enjoy the magnificent views, potter around, have a nice lunch and just have a good time. We do plan to come back another time, now we are better informed as what we are up against, have more time and are better equipped and do the Grand Canyon properly.

And do check out my art-blog for another funny sketch!

Ramadan torture

15 09 2009

This is one of my best soups, Q loves it! It is also mega healthy and non-fattening.
Sóóóóó Yummmmieeeeee!!!!!!

DSCN1394

  • oliveoil
  • one small onion
  • two cloves of garlic
  • one slice of ginger
  • mushrooms
  • one chicken fillet, cut in small pieces
  • chicken stock
  • springonion
  • one egg
  • beansprouts
  • baby-spinach
  • soy sauce
  • sherry (optional, but it is my secret inredient)

Fry one small onion cut in small pieces, two finely chopped garlic cloves, and a finely chopped slice of (real) ginger, for about one minute, add mushrooms and spring onion, take out, add another spoon of olive oil, and lightly fry the chicken.
Meanwhile you will have heated a pan of chicken-stock, add the vegetables and chicken, and let simmer, add one egg, beaten with two spoonfulls of Soy sauce, and one of sherry, slowly pour in the soup and  beat in the egg.
Add two handfulls of beansprouts and two handfulls of baby spinach: Serve and enjoy!

You can reheat this soup the next day, but in that case you should not add the spinach, as you cannot re-heat spinach, you put it in the bowls and pour the soup over it.

Roadtrip, day 2

14 09 2009

Day two… After waking up in our pristine motelroom we had a very simple breakfast at the motel. You could make your own waffles! While not exactely fitting into my diet that seemed too much fun to pass up. However, The goddess of thin waistes intervened by sending me a guardian angel, the ”Waffle Man”. This bloke hogged the waffle iron for the entire time we had breakfast: nobody else had a chance at it! And it didn’t look as if he actually needed the calories…..
Check out my art-blog for the sketch I made of him in revenge….

To make things up I’ll show you the view we had walking out of the room!
For someone from the Netherlands, which is so flat you won’t believe it until you’ve seen it, this is very, very exotic!

DSCN1533

And the fascinating collection of red trucks which were parked all around the motel! There were at least twelve of them!

Vitamin C is a life saver

10 08 2009

swineflu virus3

Vitamin C cannot be produced by the human body, unlike most animals which can produce vitamin C in large quantities. Unlike recent false claims in the media, you cannot overdose on vitamin C, the surplus will be peed out.
You know when you have reached your toplevel-intake when you have reached your ”bowel-intolerance level”, when you have reached that level you will get some dhiarhoea and you have to cut down your intake. This level is considerably higher as you might think, I’m talking grams of the stuff here!
People who are sick have a higher bowel intolerance level as people who are healthy. As you get better, your bowel tolerance level will drop.
This is becasue when your cells are combatting an infection they need and use more vitamin C. As the infection is being vanquished, less vitamin C is used, and therefore the bowel intolerance level drops and you decrease your intake.

I have just started to take a significantly higher amount of vitamin C as a precaution to the flu, swine flu or whatever, but having read up the many, many reasearches done on vitamin C I think I need it for many more reasons.

Now the intake my doctor advised is 4 to 6 grams Asorbic Acid (vitamin C) per day, starting with 1 gram per day and slowly going up one gram every week.
But I am planning to keep upping the dose to see where my bowel intolerance level lies. I will let ya’all know.

So what’s up with the current reports in the media that vitamins are no good?
This is a fabrication of false information, fake research and pressure on journalists to discredit all cheap, non-pharmacutical health medicines, supplements and foods. The pharmacutical companies have a double advantage by discrediting healthy foods, and natural food-supplements: Healthy people don’t need their medicines. And natural medicines cannot be patented (ascorbic acid is cheap) and are therefore not interesting moneywise. As vitamins, natural foodsupplements and ”alternative” medicines are seen as competition for their artifically produced and patenteble medicines, they are using their mega billion dollar budgets to pressure the media and influence the public, eg. us, to distrust the ”competition”.
I’ve allready had people telling me that ”Vitamins aren’t really good for you”.
And when we lookat recent media hypes over the last few years, from SARS to Saddam’s ”weapons of mass destruction” does anybody really believe the media anymore??? Does it surprise you the journalists work for the huge pharmacutical lobbies as well as the warmongering politicians?

Update

I can advice everybody to read this link, it contains some very good information on ascorbic acid and it’s benefits, and dismisses some of the fables grown around it.

You do not get kidneystones from taking ascorbic acid, it’s an old myth there has never been even one medical case where a patient was proven to have grown kidney stones from taking vitamin C.

The cure for swine flu (and Sars, and birdflu, and HIV)

8 08 2009

The current ”pandemic” of swineflu is hugely exaggerated by the global media. Actually I have been scanning what else is going on right now that needs to be covered up with a ”Deadly-Pandemic”-scare.  I’ll put it as simply as I can trying to keep it short. (I still recommend you make yourself a cuppa tea and sit down comfortably)

swineflu virus

  • N1H1 is the most common influenza
  • ”Swine-flu” is a recent mutation but still just a flu.
  • Virusses mutate all the time, all the time, nothing new.
  • You don’t die of swine flu but of complications, and only if you are weak or your health is compromised to start with
  • Influenza is to be taken serious, but swineflu is not more deadly than other flu’s
  • Tamiflu does not cure flu, it slightly alleviates symptoms and may shorten the disease by one day, but only if taken within 24 hours of being infected
  • Tamiflu can have very severe side-effects
  • Fluvirusses are allready becoming resistant to Tamiflu
  • replication of all virusses can be decreased or even completely blocked by ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
  • the pharmaceutical companies are lobbying very hard to keep this information from the public knowlege. Vitamins cannot be patented, and therefore cannot be used as a cashcrop.
  • Viral deseases are virtually unknown in the animal world, because most animals, except humans, produce high levels of vitamin C in their own bodies
  • Al virusses spread in the body by using the same enzymes (collagenases) which can be partially or completely blocked by means of the natural amino acid lysine. (also not produced by the human body)
  • The WHO, (World Health Organisation) does not prioritise human health, it doesn’t promote your health, it promotes the interests of the pharmaceutical investment interests

As virusses can be either slowed down consederably, or even blocked alltogether by ingesting large amounts of vitamin C, and other micronutrients, I wonder why I should bother with artificial expensive medicines, which do not stop the virus from spreading but merely alleviate some symptoms. And, according to many patients who have taken Tamiflu, the side-effects from Tamiflu have been far worse than the flu they suffered from before taking the Tamiflu.

Read how a virus uses the cells of the body to spread.
In this open letter dr Rath explains about natural (and cheap) protection from SARS. Hours later the WHO changed their own policy 180” and declared Sars under control.

All virusses use the same method to infiltrate the body. All Steps of Influenzopenletter_230306_pic1a Infection Can Be Blocked by Micronutrients:

1.Influenza virus gets inside the body cells with the help of the enzyme neuraminidase (N), which is located on the surface of the virus.

2.Within the infected cell, the virus reprogrammes the genetic software in the cell core to allow its own multiplication. The infected cell now continuously produces more viruses as well as the biological scissors (collagenases) for their spread.

3.Millions of viruses are released from infected cells. With the help of collagen-destroying enzymes, the viruses expand through the connective tissue and invade other cells. The influenza infection has turned into a disease.

So if Vitamin C, and other micro nutrients can stop this from happening, you are actually stopping the disease on it’s onset. You don’t get ill!
That seems to me a lot more effective than a slight alleviation of symptoms, with, as may people report spme very, very serious side effects which may even last long term.
Patients who take Tamiflu as a precaution only, so without having been infected, experience the same severe side-effects. In their cases the symptoms cannot be blamed on swine flu, as the manufacturer is trying to make out.  One patient, who had taken Tamiflu only as a precaution, so without being sick, not only suffered from side effects, but the doctors have told him he might now be suffering from auto immune disease!

A list of the side effects as reported by patients who have taken Tamiflu, some of these side effects started within hours or even minutes of taking their first dose. Some report these side effects lasting for many weeks after stopping taking the Tamiflu and still continuing. Most patients experience several of these side effects simultaniously.

  • nausea
  • delusions
  • nightmares
  • extreme stomach cramps
  • depression
  • suicidal thoughts
  • extreme fatigue
  • chills
  • swollen and painful joints
  • difficulties to breath
  • pressure on chest
  • feeling of doom
  • moodswings
  • high bloodpressure
  • high fever
  • heart palpitations
  • severe headache, with no alleviation from painkillers
  • skinrash
  • no appetite
  • upset stomach
  • disorientation
  • severe vomiting
  • crippling pain in legs
  • hives
  • anxiety, severe anxiety
  • insomnia
  • dry mouth
  • tingling and numbness in hands and feet
  • ”taste” of Tamiflu, recurring after many weeks
  • dhiarrhoea

Now not everybody will experience these, only a percentage, estimated at 5% will be the losers, but many of those who did suffer these sideffects were very sorry to have taken the drug at all, and considered the side effects many times worse as the flu they experienced before they took the drug.
I find the recent reports of its use in Japan very disturbing, in Japan Tamiflu prescriptions are ten times higher than in the US, the reports describe bizarre psychiatric problems in children, even leading to death.
I know I’m not going to take the risk, especially as Tamiflu is not a cure anyway.

Read this:

  • interesting article on how the SARS-epidemic was one large media stunt to devert attention from the war in Iraq and the use of weapons of mass destruction, by a fully media-controlled global scare for SARS. After dr Rath publicised his report on the efficacy of vitamin C and other nutrients on combatting the disease, the WHO made an immediate 180” turn around, and proclaimed the disease under control.

After having launched one of the largest media stunts in the history of planet earth, the pharmaceutical cartel and its allies within the WHO had to withdraw it within hours of Dr. Rath calling their bluff.

Dr. Rath comments: “I have been fighting the pharmaceutical cartel for more than a decade now, but this success overshadows everything. The pharmaceutical interest groups – ex-posed as conducting an organized fraud business that risks the life of millions of people and drains the economies of this planet – are apparently extremely nervous. There can be no other reason why they reacted so fast following my exposure that the pharmaceutical cartel is the organizer and benefactor of this man made hysteria. This fact should open the eyes of every intelligent person: How scared must they be if $30,000 in public health advertising is all it takes to stop an epidemic that has been dominating the news around the world.”

My natural beauty

27 07 2009

You may wonder why I have moved from being all evil and wicked into the realms of ”happy news”, ”kittens” and white dresses.
This is because I have seen the light!
I want to share my beautiful thoughts, my fragility and natural sweetness.
In order to remain delightful, adorable and attractive to my chosen dreamrabbit, I decided I needed to get rid of all these dangerous opinions of my own, so unbecoming to the natural simplicity of women. We women need to realise our limits.
I understand that now…

I want to share this enlightening and informative clip

Rethinking blogging

25 07 2009

lighte

I have been thinking about blogging a lot lately. To be honest, the ridiculous numbers of visitors I get, all blurkers, freaks me out. I get like 500 a day and I don’t even blog regularly. And there is the weird clicks I get on ”women dress and religion”: every day 120 clicks! Why? Where are they coming from? I can’t find out via the stats-page.
And there’s the real weirdo’s out there, the people hiding behind false internet personae. Making up unbelievable stories about their life and accomplishments, the mental vampires trying to suck you dry, always angling for support and compliments while giving nothing back.

Luckily there are also some very real friends coming out of blogsphere into the real world :)

But lately I am wondering: what am I doing? I started this blog when I was completely invalid and bored and getting a lot of fun out of reading blogs and also learning a lot, and connecting with people all over the world, also fun, and I wanted to be fair and show myself as I was getting more outspoken on other peoples blogs.

But I am better, and need to work hard again, and why am I spending time writing about my thoughts. Because that’s really what this blog is, a sort of twice-weekly look at what’s going on in my brain. But is this all? Because I am really and foremost an artist: not a writer and essayist. I think it’s time I focus on different subjects, like my art, and positive thinking.

So I have deleted some personal stuff, and protected quite a few others, and a very, very few people will get the password to those.
Very few.
If I haven’t written you a love-letter you can bet you won’t get the password.

And while I will continue to pour some stuff out now and then, I am from now on putting my energy in my art and am working on an art-blog. I am also staying away from blogs which host serious weirdo-commenters. I need positive vibes in my life, Anybody who wants to share positive vibes is welcome, otherwise they get kicked out. And I’m not going to look for weirdo’s on other blogs. If I don’t like the company, despite of the blog, I’m keeping away.
